It’s that time of year again! The end of 2011 is coming and 2012 will begin in a few short weeks. And that, of course, means that…. *drum roll* our Women of Promise 2012 Retreat is coming up!

Brochures will be sent out soon. If you would like some to pass out to friends, let me know (email womenofpromise@ymail.com or leave a message on facebook or on this post!) and I’ll be sure to get you however many you need.

As for other exciting news- this year we are welcoming a new team member! August Christman was a part of WoP back in her high school years and she will now be joining us as a leader!

To kick off the year, we will be publishing a series of interviews. Each of our leaders will be sharing a little bit about themselves to let you (and your mothers) know us a little better.

We had so much fun wearing hats, eating dainty food while sitting on quilts. Quite a few of the girls made their hats, including Courtney. I loved it!

When we arrived, Brianna promptly informed us that we had to call each other “dahrling” all day long. We did for five minutes… and promptly forgot.

At the party we talked about the meaning of our names, how God knows us by name, and how He will give us a new name.

Hello girls!

We had a great time at our last meeting! For those of you who were unable to make it- we talked about serving. God is asking us to have a servants heart, which means, to put other people above ourselves! It is such a high calling and can be so difficult at times…

Delite asked us to work at memorizing a verse or two before the next meeting (the last Saturday in June, a Garden Party!) so just as a reminder, I am going to post them here. Take your pick and remember, there are prizes for those who can write a verse out without looking!

Matthew 20:26-28

“Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—  just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Galatians 5:13

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

It’s been a month already. Crazy… although I’m a little mixed up, because I wasn’t really at the last meeting – even though I was at part of it, because you lovely ladies came to see the play.

Anyhow, we’re back to the regular meeting, for one month at least. *smiles* Details are as follows:

Where: Cheri’s house, in Martinsburg

When: Saturday, May 28 – 5 to 8 p.m.

Who: Girls, ages 10-15

Delite is in charge this month… so you know it’ll be fun! Anyhow, remember we’ll have dinner, and bring your Bibles and notebooks.

Meghan talked to us about who we are. Not just daughters, sisters, friends, etc… but who we are in Christ. She challenged us to take time this month to find a verse in the Bible that tells us something about ourselves. Then scrapbook journal about it and bring it to the next meeting (Which is April 30th, in case you forgot!)

I’m going to post mine on here, to give you some ideas in case you’re not sure what we’re asking!

It’s already time for the March meeting! Wow, time flies. But I’m excited to be back into it.

Anyhow, just wanted to make sure you knew that it was coming up…and that you knew the details. It’s going to be at Cheri’s, on Friday, March 25th, from 5 to 8 p.m. We’ll have dinner (good stuff!), play a game or something, worship, and then talk for a while. Maybe throw in a craft or something. Oh, and prizes!

You know how they usually go. *smiles*

We had such a wonderful time. Laughing. Talking about…life.

On Friday night, we made dream boxes…a place where we could put our dreams at the feet of Jesus. Just like the woman with the alabaster jar.

We did some creative journaling. Setting a memorial stone, giving ourselves something tangible to remember how God has moved in our lives.

But what you don’t see on the schedule was all the fun we had…ninja, drop the blanket, playing in the snow, reading stories, and sparklers under the stars.

It was wonderful. As a leader, I came away TIRED…but feeling like I must have been blessed more than the girls.

There has been a slight problem. You know all the snow we got this month? Well, apparently the road to the Farney camp is blocked. SO SAD.

If you’re taking 812 from Lowville, you will take a right on Buckingham Road. Go about a mile and you will see Brewery Road. Take a right on it and will soon see Farney Lumber! There is a road that leads behind it to a camp.
